Is Hemlock Stronger than Pine?
Hemlock is much stronger and harder than pine. It is used for Barns, Fence boards, Pergolas and as Cribbing. It is used in situations requiring high strength. Green Hemlock is very heavy but is easily worked with tools. Once dry, Hemlock is more difficult to work with. Check out pictures of Pergolas on the gallery page. Also horses dont like to chew on hemlock.
